Ekin Ikerketa Taldea is a highly qualified and specialized team, with extensive experience both in the clinical area and in the sports area. The members of the team are in constant learning and dedication to health work applied to climbing, due to their scientific vocation and their passion for this sport.
Andoni Ormazabal (Urretxu, 1978) is a Graduate in Physiotherapy and has two master's degrees, one in Traditional Chinese Medicine and another in Sports Physiotherapy. He has received complementary training in surgical interventions and he is one of the few physiotherapists in the Spanish state specialized in climbing and mountain pathologies. He is a founding partner of the Ekin Physiotherapy Center of Aretxabaleta. He is currently conducting studies on the climber community to estimate the prevalence of injuries associated with climbing and to explore the associated risk factors in the different levels and groups existing in this sport. Due to his unconditional love for the mountain, he has carried out numerous activities in reference walls in the Pyrenees, Alps, Picos de Europa, etc. It has a curriculum that extends from Patagonia to the Himalayas. It is worth highlighting the Gasherbrum II peak (8,035m) and several peaks over 6,000m. In sport climbing has come to perform 7b + onsight and 8a redpoint.
Ioritz Gonzalez Lertxundi
(Azkoitia, 1980) is a Graduate in Biology with a master's degree in Teacher in Secondary Education. He has received complementary education in the sanitary field, attending, among other activities, surgical interventions associated with pathologies of climbers. He is currently immersed in research programs associated with the pathology in climbing, conducting studies on the community of climbers to estimate the prevalence of injuries associated with this sport, explore possible risk factors, etc. He is a passionate about sport climbing, and has made difficulties of 7 C + onsight, 8b+/c redpoint and 7c+ of Boulder or block.
Víctor Galán
(Bilbao, 1958) he is a prestigious Orthopedic Surgeon and Traumatologist who currently works at the Galdakao Hospital, the Virgen Blanca Clinic and the Indautxu Clinic. Specialized in hand surgery, microsurgery and in upper limb, he usually works in the treatment of sports injuries (ligamentous injuries, tendon pulleys, epicondylitis, etc.) and in the development of mini-invasive surgeries. He has participated in numerous occasions in the National Congress of the Spanish Society of Surgery of the Hand and in international congresses, besides publishing numerous articles in state publications. He is a member of the Spanish Society of Hand Surgery and a European Diploma in Hand Surgery.
Belen Sancho
(Cruces-Baracaldo, 1971) is a Diploma in Physiotherapy and Nursing and has completed several courses: specialization course in orthopedic manual therapy, diacutaneous fibrolysis course, expert nursing course in the surgical area anesthesia and resuscitation, Sohier method and maps course. She has also done various hand pathology courses accredited by the American Society of Occupational Therapists and a hand evaluation and assessment course. She has presented posters in the sports pathology days of the Spanish Olympic Committee and is currently doing the Work End of Master in EHU / UPV. She has more than 15 years of experience as a physiotherapist in trauma hospital with upper limb pathologies. She currently combines her work in clinic with Teaching in the EHU / UPV, in which she has worked since 2014 in the Department of Physiology and she is immersed in research programs associated with climbing pathology, conducting studies on the climbers community to estimate the prevalence of injuries associated with this sport, explore possible risk factors, etc.
Xeber Iruretagoiena
(Zarautz, 1992) is a Graduate in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences and a Diploma in Adapted Physical Activity. He has a Master in Sports Therapy and is currently studying the Physiotherapy Diploma. He has experience in the management of events and physical activity training with patients with different pathologies and disabilities. In this respect, stands out the research done for the University of the Basque Country with hypertensive patients.
